Pamlico Chamber of Commerce Pres. Arrested for Embezzlement

Deputies in Pamlico County say the president of the county Chamber of Commerce was engaging in some risky business.
They arrested 36-year-old David Kitchen Tuesday on embezzlement charges.
Investigators say Kitchen used more than $6,000 of the chamber’s cash and checks to pay his own bills.
They say it all came to light after the chamber’s treasurer got suspicious and conducted an internal audit.

Driver arrested for hit and run accident in Paso Robles, victim

A Paso Robles man is in custody Wednesday night after police say he ran over a teenager and then drove away.
The incident happened on Commerce Way just North of Santa Bella at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. The 19-year-old victim, Marco Ledesma from Los Angeles, was sent to the hospital with major internal injuries.

Suspect in Chamber of Commerce Credit Fraud Arrested

VISTA - A jobless woman was jailed Wednesday on suspicion of charging more than $8,000 worth of computer equipment and other office supplies to the Vista Chamber of Commerce while posing as a member of the agency.
Financial-crimes detectives arrested 51-year-old Juanita Williams of Vista at her Sycamore Avenue apartment about 7 a.m., sheriff's Sgt. Mark Varnau said.

Wash. girl, father arrested in possible baby death

PORT ANGELES, Wash. —
A 16-year-old girl and her father have been arrested by police in Port Angeles in connection with the possible death of the girl's newborn baby.
A body has not been found.

Bellevue gallery bookkeeper arrested in theft of paintings and money

A bookkeeper has been arrested in connection with the theft of nearly $100,000 worth of paintings and money from an art gallery over the past several years.
The thefts took place at the Kenneth Behm Galleries, which had operated at the Bellevue Square shopping center for 26 years, but was sold about 18 months ago.
The galleries then reopened in a commercial building in the 3000 block of Northup Way, said the gallery owner, Kenneth Behm.

For almost a decade, police say, James Lucero turned tons of construction trash headed for San Jose's Kirby Canyon landfill into his own private treasure.

Six arrested in alleged San Jose waste-hauling scheme
